Legislation
Because legislative issues can have such a dramatic effect on IREM members and their clients, IREM-Kansas City has a separate Legislative Committee that actively tracks federal, state (both Kansas and Missouri) and local initiatives as they are being presented and debated. This committee makes available monthly updates, link below, showing the most recent action on any particular issue.
In addition, frequent "Calls for Action" are sent out to elicit assistance from IREM members to present our viewpoints on certain issues to the governing body responsible for enacting them. This includes annual participation in IREM's Capital Hill event, where IREM members from across the country convene in Washington DC to meet with congressional representatives regarding current legislation and concerns.
